Vologda is a distinctive ancient Russian city, spread across both banks of the river of the same name. It holds the status of the administrative center of the Vologda Oblast and is one of the largest cities in the Northwest of Russia. Vologda can boast a history of more than 8 centuries and its involvement in significant events that accompanied the formation of the Russian state. The city possesses a rich cultural and architectural heritage, attracting tourists with its ancient monuments, museums, and ethnographic centers.
Vologda is the lace capital of Russia, with unique traditions of wooden architecture, lace-making, church architecture, and icon painting.
The lace patterns in our lighting concept are a light image that serves as a recurring thread throughout the entire project. The lighting master plan, as a fabric of light, integrates into the urban context, weaving its own pattern of light and shadows. Pedestrian zones should be attractive both during the day and in the evening. Conscious lighting is important both from a functional standpoint and from the standpoint of aesthetic appeal. In the evening, the city, and especially its central tourist area, should be no less interesting than in the light of the sun.
